What is a township? A township is a political subdivision of St. Louis County. The county is divided into 28 townships. Townships in St. Louis County are primarily used for political and voting purposes. Townships do not have their own governments, and townships are not the same as municipalities, even though some townships have the same name as local municipalities. For example, Spanish Lake the municipality does not have the same boundaries as Spanish Lake the township.

Who represents my township on the St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee? Two elected St. Louis County Democratic Committeepeople serve each township, for a total of 56 Committeepeople on the St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee. Committeepeople are elected by their neighbors during presidential primary years. Click on the name of your township in the list below to find out who your current Committeepeople are.

Do I have to live in a township to go to club meetings there? No! St. Louis area voters can attend Democratic club meetings for any township. However, if you want to participate in the mass meetings to select delegates for the state and national Democratic conventions during a presidential election year, you will need to attend the selection meeting in the township where you are registered to vote.

Not sure which township you live in? Check your township (and verify your voter registration information) by entering your home address at the Missouri Secretary of State website. Your township will be listed under precinct.

I want to go to club meetings, but my township doesn’t have an active club. What should I do? You can attend meetings for any neighboring township, or, you can reach out to the Committeepeople who serve your township and ask about helping to set up a new local Democratic club!
