About the SLCDCC

The St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee works to elect Democrats at every level of government, build grassroots power across townships, and connect our communities to policies that improve people’s lives. We strengthen local Democratic infrastructure through organizing, outreach, and partnerships with state and national leaders.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Executive Director to lead and manage the daily operations of the SLCDCC, support our subcommittees and township organizations, and help drive our long-term vision for a stronger Democratic Party in St. Louis County.

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) oversees and executes all programs of the SLCDCC. This includes maintaining a physical office, guiding the Committee through special and general elections, managing the financial health of the organization, and ensuring the success of events and fundraising efforts. The ED is accountable for well-managed programs that build the Democratic Party at the grassroots level, strengthen infrastructure, and effectively execute the vision of the Chair and Central Committee.

The ED must be committed to the SLCDCC’s values and the Missouri Democratic Party platform. The ED reports to the County Party Chair with policy direction and guidance from the SLCDCC.

In addition to county responsibilities, the Executive Director will dedicate approximately 25% of their time to supporting the St. Louis City Democratic Central Committee under an existing memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Primary Responsibilities

Organizing & Township Development

  • Develop and strengthen township-level Democratic organizations, supporting volunteer leaders and connecting activists with SLCDCC resources.

  • Serve as a bridge between constituents and state/national Democratic initiatives, ensuring communities are informed and engaged.

  • Coordinate with political campaigns and local leaders to support strategy and mobilization efforts.

Fundraising & Events

  • Plan, lead, and manage all SLCDCC events and fundraisers, including logistics, promotion, and volunteer coordination.

  • Work directly with fundraising consultants, the Chair, and the Treasurer to design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy (call time, pledges, sponsorships, and grassroots donations).

Communications & Outreach

  • Manage SLCDCC communications, including website, social media, newsletters, and digital outreach.

  • Serve as a public spokesperson for the SLCDCC when appropriate and authorized.

  • Build relationships with local/state elected officials, party officials, and partner organizations.

Subcommittees & Volunteer Leadership

  • Partner with SLCDCC subcommittees (e.g., Communications, Finance, Township Support) to expand organizing capacity and ensure coordinated action.

  • Support volunteer-led initiatives and working groups as directed by the Chair and Central Committee.

Finance & Compliance

  • Build budgets and track income and expenditures with oversight from the Finance Committee and Treasurer.

  • Maintain current knowledge of campaign finance, election law, and compliance requirements.

Partnerships & Coordination

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Democratic partners including the DNC, MDP, HDCC, SDCC, the Coordinated Campaign, and local clubs.

  • Fulfill obligations outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the St. Louis City Democratic Central Committee, including providing event management, fundraising support, communications assistance, and organizational development.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in political campaigns, community organizing, nonprofit management, or related fields.

  • Proven ability to plan and execute events and fundraising initiatives.

  • Knowledge of campaign finance and election law, or ability to quickly learn.

  • Experience in grassroots organizing and volunteer management.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with subcommittees, volunteers, and elected leadership to achieve organizational goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to serve as a public spokesperson.

  • Digital fluency, including social media, website management, and email marketing platforms.

  • Financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.

  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with Democratic organizations at all levels.

  • Commitment to the values and platform of the Missouri Democratic Party.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $63,000 - $68,000
